A debate competition on the topic “Is AI a Threat to Humanity?” was organized between the Language Schools of the National Defense University and Istanbul Medipol University. Hosted by the National Defense University, the event was attended by our Language School Coordinator, Assist. Prof. Murat Culduz, Deputy Coordinator Murat Şahin, event organizers Lecturers Serkan Yar and Burak Bezgal, as well as approximately 1,500 soldiers who supported as audience members.

During the competition, students discussed the potential impacts of artificial intelligence on humanity and the risks associated with this technology in detail. Both teams presented strong arguments, evaluating both the positive and negative aspects of AI. The audience had the opportunity to deeply contemplate the future role of AI and what it could mean for humanity.

At the end of the debate, trees were planted in the earthquake-affected region in honor of the participants. This meaningful event not only contributed to nature but also reinforced the sense of social responsibility. Both participants and audience members shared the satisfaction of having experienced an informative and thought-provoking event.
